Exploring Archetypes In Metamorphoses

The archetypes that exist in metamorphoses vary from things like art to love. These archetypes come from the creators point of view about how everything was created. The archetypes that are covered in metamorphoses can be compared and contrasted to the archetypes that I know and
modern ones.

The archetype art is supposed to help people transcend. To be exact it is supposed to help people transcend suffering. When are a person shows off the artistic skills or participates in something dealing with art they helping themselves suffer less. Therefore, they are getting rid of the pain they may be feeling through artistic expression. The way I feel about art and how it has been instilled in me is that it shows your creative side and also helps with emotional balance. For example, when I was a little girl I was sent to art camp during the summer. When I was at art camp, I learned how to do many things and it help me find new friends. One thing that I learned to do that I still enjoy doing is pottery. In the modern world artistic expression is known to be therapeutic. All these views are similar because they show that people relieve stress and help themselves cope through art. Artistic expression is one of the best ways to show your how you are feeling. They differ because Ovid feels that art only helps you transcend suffering. While from my point of view it helps you cope overall. The modern belief is that it can be a form of therapy for those who like and embrace art.

In seventh chapter of Metamorphoses the first psychological struggle comes into play. Scylla falls in love and she begins to struggle with that mentally. She did not want to betray her father but she wanted to help Jason so if she did that she would have to betray her father. She did what she thought was right and she decided not to betray her father. The archetype that goes along with this is that a person should always put their family before anyone else. The love and respect of her father was more important than the love she desired from Jason. Her father is the most important person in her life and she had to make that known. This archetype plays in my life as well. For example, my father does not agree with my with relationship with my partner (whom is a female). I am struggling between betraying his trust and being in love with her. This is also modern because many people struggle with the issue of being a homosexual and telling their loved ones such as their parents. The way that the modern viewpoint and my viewpoint differ from Ovid's is that back then people did not go against their parents. Today people are willing to lose their family so that they can be happy and live their life how they please. I concur with the modern view point because I want to be able to live my life as I choose to live it because I want to be happy just like everyone else.

Archetypes That Exist In Life, Family, And Community

There area many archetypes that exist in my life, family, and community. It all started with my mother and father. They procreated me in July of 1991 and I was born March 8, 1992; which was in the spring time. Once the rearing began is when the archetypes began to come into place with not only me but my sisters and brothers as well. The first archetype that was presented to my siblings and I is that we are a family first. That meant that we are a unit and we must stick together no matter what obstacles we face and problems that come our way as individuals and as a family. Our story is like one of rags to riches.

It all started in Norfolk, Virginia my parents lived in many different places with my brothers and sisters. They struggled most of the time and had to use government assistance. Another archetype that was given to us is that you must work hard to get out of the hood. We lived in an unsafe environment so in order to get out we had to work hard and go to school to get what we wanted and needed out of life. Then my family moved to California; which is where I was born and they still struggled then. After that we moved back to Virginia where my parents broke their backs to give us what we wanted and needed. My father went to school and graduated from college twice. Education is a big factor in my family; if you don't pursue an education you will not be successful in life.

In 2006 my father got a better job so we moved to South Carolina. This is where another archetype began to come into play which is bettering your surroundings can help you become a better person. My dad moved us out of the hood into a nice apartment complex on an Island. In 2007 we moved again; this time to Georgia. I lived in Warner Robins first and I completed high school. We lived in two different apartment complexes where the rent was almost 1,000 dollars. While here in Georgia my dad decided to go over seas to make more money and he could do that because of his educational and military background. In 2012 my mother and father got a six bedroom house built from the ground up. They moved us into the suburbs. The main archetype that was instilled into my brothers, sisters, and I is that you can become rich by receiving an education. We lived a fairytale; we went from RAGS TO RICHES.

How Creation Stories Shape The Way I See The World

Creation stories have created a whole different world for me.  The ones that I have been told have shaped and molded my life. They have also help me create a stronger bond with my family. They even help me to create a bond with other people who share the same belief. This that was told to me as a little girl it that God created all that is on earth. Growing up I believed that if you didn't follow God's word that you would be punished greatly and sent to hell. Since this is what I was taught to believe I use to think that people in the world that committed crimes or sinned were to be dammed to hell.

As I began to age I started the question the existence of God. My dad would tell me that I should not question it but I did anyways. I felt like there is no way that this person use to exist. I started to feel like the story was fake and that people of the world were given false hope. I considered to be false hope because there is no way that one person can make everything that exists on the earth. Also I felt like there is no way a person can comes from another persons rib cage.

Coming up into my adult years; I began to explore the world and view it much differently. I began to watch the history channel more and explore different options as to how the earth, people, and everything on it came to exist. As I met different people as I travelled to different states I came across people who had the same belief as me. Which is the Big Bang Theory that we were created from molecules and evolution.

This Big Bang Theory made me see world in a different light. It says that humans were created from molecules in the universe. Many people believe that but they are called weird or strange. I view the creation stories like this now, people will believe what ever they were reared to believe or what they choose to believe as they grew older. Personally, for my life I am now a spiritual person and I believe that they creation story about how we came to be starts with animals and spirits. It keeps me calm and helps me to realize that humans and animals must coexist. How animals and human were created to be equal.

My View On Creation

My view on creation is that every culture on this earth has its own belief that the world, humans, animals and etc. were created either by a God of some sort or by the universe itself. My personal belief is that the earth, humans, animals, and etc. were created by a God. Now which God created life as we know it is hard to say for me because I am mixed with different ethnicities I do not have one solid belief. I just believe that we were all created by a God that felt that there should only be two genders because anything else besides that would be abnormal. However, we are a world of many ethnicities because the way the land is on the earth there should be different styles of living. The development of different languages and dialects came from people being different skin tones so they should be able to communicate with others that look like them by using their own special language.

I am also a very spiritual person; so I believe that animals are sacred beings and should be treated with respect. Animals were created just as humans were so that we could coexist on this planet. I feel that the story of creation that I was taught reflects on my parents religion not my own. They believe in God and that he is the creator of all human and animal. Also the world as we know to be now with the way we can distinguish the difference between the sky and the grass. Since I was brought up in a Christian household I was always told that God is the almighty and ultimate and that he should be praised and we should thank him for what he has give to us. Also thank him for what he done for us.

As I have grown as woman and became older I have developed my own way of thinking and my beliefs about human beings. I believe that many people learn how the world was created via religion. For instance, people who do not believe in religion believe that the world was created due to the Big Bang in the universe many years ago.

Creation is very exciting. There are so many stories as to how the earth, humans, animals, etc. came into existence. I just enjoy listening to the different creation stories. The different cultures on this earth show that there are so many different ways the story of our coming can be told. The fact that these stories are passed down from generation to generation and they never change shows that people truly believe that these creation stories they are told as children are factual and shall be talked about for centuries upon centuries. Creation stories show how people from all over the world are very descriptive and creative. In my opinion, creation is the best way to explain how everything we know in this world about ourselves came to be.
